I have downloaded fc4 images a couple times, and each time when I do the check of the image, the message is it is corrupt; does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I think that whole Media Check routine is totally unreliable. You really don't know how good or bad your disks are until you start to use them. Media Check has been broken since FC3.
