I have downloaded the kernel 2.6.11.10.tar.gz from the site http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/

But there is no source kernel file in the
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ or does it include the
source of kernel in kernel-2.6.11.10.tar.gz2 .
I have choosen the directory which said it contains the kernel source also.

I am asking you before attempting to play with the kernel just to make
sure that I do the right things .

Better to have a look before asking so you don't seem such a dill when you find what you have and that you've wasted some hours of others' time (considering that everyone who reads your Q is wasting time)!
