Hello, I have played the game Heroes 3 on Fedora Core 1 on the same
machine without any problems (except network games).
Now after I have installed Fedora Core 3 the game segfaults with that
message:
[peter@hst-1-98 ~]$ heroes3
BUG! (Segmentation Fault) Going down hard...
Heroes of Might & Magic III 1.3.1a
Built with glibc-2.1 on x86

I have searched the archives of this mailing list and with Google too
but couldn`t find anything useful :(
Could anybody help me? If I need to provide additional information, I
will.
I have tried the suggestions for the Gentoo users here:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71044
but it did not worked.
I have tried all available patches/updates for the game without success.
Don`t know exactly when but running heroes3 as root resulted in a
message:
video memory protecting
Starting the game with:
strace -o strace-h3 heroes3
I see that it reads twice the file .Xauthority and then (I am not a
programer and maybe I am wrong) it segfaults.
I have tried to turn off Selinux, but that did not helped too.
So have you any idea?
I installed it on FC3/AMD64 and both the original 1.2 and the 1.3.1a
patch works. I don't need that Flash plugin when I can play Heroes3. :-P
The installation was not automatic, I had to extract the installer and
convince the script that x86-64 should be treated as plain x86.
But the game works and only the network game segfaults. SELinux is on.
