Got one message: someone has the same drive as me: ATAPI CD-ROM, with removable media Model Number: SONY DVD+/-RW DW-D56A he's running suse and the answer is: Switch to SUSE's kerned of the day (kotd) 2.6.11.4. Then your CD/DVD will be found as an SATA drive and will work fine. He did it and succeeded. > FWIW I never use -X34, partly because I don't see a use for it, partly > because the one time I did I had to reboot immediately afterwards. This is not the case for me, because the command failed, I presume! But I get the same answer with hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc Greetings. - -- François Patte Ecole française d'Extrême-Orient Université Paris 5 http://www.math-info.univ-paris5.fr/~patte -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFCgyvhdE6C2dhV2JURAptTAKCIyZDD9MqLyXTWoGtykfwlqmAdIwCgqrPQ u5OKUWQ/2H3rK63hqpYNMdw= =0zYp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
