Got one message: someone has the same drive as me:

ATAPI CD-ROM, with removable media
Model Number:
SONY DVD+/-RW DW-D56A

he's running suse and the answer is:

Switch to SUSE's kerned of the day (kotd) 2.6.11.4.
Then your CD/DVD will be found as an SATA drive and
will work fine.

He did it and succeeded.

This is not the case for me, because the command failed, I presume! But I
get the same answer with hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc
