The situation is much better recently. You should check out http://fedoraproject.org/extrasNeither is fedora if you count the 3rd party RPM repositories. The problem is that there are conflicts in naming conventions and no one agrees on how to RPM package all the perl modules that you need for nice things like backuppc or Request Tracker or MimeDefang to be bundled.
