This isn't "strange". Have you seen that there are too i386 libraries
for your x86_64 FC3 packaged? To distinguish them from each other there
are the lib and lib64 directories.

Include the desired lib64 directory to the search path. Something like

LDFLAGS "-L /usr/lib64" ./configure --other-switch

But I have some doubts kvirc has 64bit code. So you may need the 32bit
libraries which are required for compilation.
