Charles,

Don't know about Fedora Core but Mac OS X runs on them.  OS X is based on
FreeBSD, is compatible with all Mac peripherals and even has good phone
support.  It is a real operating system.  The GUI is a bit cute for me
sometimes but open terminal and you're in ..IX.
