I am thinking of buying a Logitech Quickcam Orbit webcam and have been doing some research on the net to see if it is supported or not. I came across articles about the pwc/pwcx driver saga for linux kernel 2.6 where it was said to be removed upon request by the maintainer. Is this affecting fedora 3 kernel too? If yes, to what extent?

As Dave (our kernel guy) stated, the drivers is maintained again by a
different person. The site you find many info about it:

http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/

Running FC2/FC3 you will find the module in you kernel:

/sbin/modinfo pwc

Instead of the previous driver which was split into 2 parts - pwc and
the closed source pwcx - the current driver is a single mode. For me it
works as good as the previous one with my Philips webcam.

That is fantastic! Thank you, Dave and Alexander. I will get one of those Logitech Orbit webcams and see what I find out.

Cheers,
Alimin
