Hi Lee,

thanks for your information. I tried to install the *30* version
(Your memory seems to be really good!) but dhclient still wouldn't
work. Than I tried all kind of other versions, newer and older ones,
no result. Finally I decided to reinstall Fedora Core 3 before
waisting another week - and was emazed about how fast and smooth
the installation was after all those hours lost... my good mood
came back again :)

...still... I didn't udpate until now ... and do not really look
forward to do so...but...

I would like to backup the working dhcp version before updating
again - all files dhclient depends on, manipulates, ... -
for the case I get into troubles again. For the moment I did the
following:

cd /
tar -cvf dhcp.tar \
  etc/log.d/conf/services/dhcpd.conf \
  etc/log.d/scripts/services/dhcpd \
  etc/resolv.conf.predhclient \
  var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.leases \
  var/lib/dhcp/dhclient-eth0.leases \
  sbin/dhclient-script \
  sbin/dhclient

Is this enough / to much / the wrong way / ... ?

After not beeing able to reinstall dhclient and make it work
again I somehow lost confidence... and feel unsure about the
question if these are the right files or not, if something
is missing,...

For the case you know and feel like writing another mail ...

For the case you do not (or feel like doing something more
productive), thank you very much!!!

You brought me back to some realistic solution and I still
have the rest of one afternoon to spend somewhere in the nature,
far away from the screen :)

Thank you very much!!! And best wishes, Die
