Is there a way I can use a printer installed on a Windows XP computer?
Do I need to use Samba for this?
Can anyone give me some directions?
Thanks.

Samba is your correct answer.

It's much easier to access a printered connected to Linux from XP. No special software is required. Microsoft doesn't really want you to know that, but XP knows how to talk IPP to cups.

Just set up an Internet-connected printer through control panel (forget the exact sequence of clickies), and for the address, enter http://hostname:631/printers/lp (provided that you've set up the printer as the default "lp" printer in Linux).
