no entries in /var/log/* - FC3

Hi,

I have updated an FC1 Server to FC3. Today I noticed, that there are no 
entries in e.g. /var/log/messages or /var/log/maillog.

syslogd and klogd are running (/etc/init.d/syslog status).

After a /etc/init.d/syslog restart the logs are written until they have 
to be rotated, then no new entries are loged (The empty logfile is 
touched). :-((

The hard disk has 7 GB space left for the logs.

sysklogd-1.4.1-26_FC3
logrotate-3.7.1-2
kernel 2.6.10-1.741_FC3smp

Any ideas? What to check?
