Excuse my ignorance but I have to ask, why can't the RPMs from MySQL.com and PHP.net be used? I've successfully used these on my FC2 box, is FC3 different?
Maybe you can; but if you use the ones from the development repo, you'll get them packaged "the fedora way", and a sunsequent upgrade to FC4 will present fewer surprises.
