One other piece of advice: you should be up to date before you go live
with this. You might want to download all the updates first, rather than
taking the time to download them while you're "down".

You can then either use rpm -Fvh to upgrade them (careful you don't
upgrade to anything with i586 when you meant to upgrade to the i686
version), or look at
https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/pipermail/yum/2003-April/000849.html and/or
http://fedoranews.org/alex/tutorial/yum/ for setting up your own yum
repository.
