fedora 3 up2date problem

Hi all
I have problem after running up2date on FC3
when it ends, and I restart my PC
an error message appears:

INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for  5 minutes

and I'm not abte to come over

can anybody recommend me some steps?
(I'm a beginner in Linux)
