Thanks Paul and apologies to all - I did send it 4 times but didn't see it appear on my incoming list the first 3 times, therefore thinking I was doing something wrong. It's a "feature" of gmail I didn't know about.
One way you check whether your posts are getting through is to look in the archives:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/
These are usually updated within a minute or two of a posting.
