I tried SUSE last year on a test box.  This was done using their network
install process which is similar to what I believe is being proposed
here.  The process took much longer than an install via CD including the
update process that Fedora uses.  It was very painful over a cable modem
connection.  I would only recommend this approach as a last ditch effort
to get an OS loaded on a system.
