Strange, it worked just fine for me.  Which driver are you using? 
6111 does not seem to build correctly (the installer will inform you
of this, so pay attention at the end).  6629 works fine for me with
741_FC3 x86_64 without any patches.  I am running an R3000Z as well
:).  One issue I had with it is that I needed to add the line:
options nvidia NVreg_Mobile=0
to /etc/modprobe.conf, or the display wouldn't be quite right.  Some
other lists you might want to join:
