This may be a case of the blind attempting to lead the blind, but your problem description suggests to me that you have a graphics card driver problem or a display monitor configuration problem. Half an hour ago I discovered a number of other Red Hat/Fedora mailing lists with separate archives for each. You may be better served by reviewing the archives at https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/xfree86-list and posing your question there.

If you are familiar with linux, you might try booting into a command line screen (VGA) and avoiding the X-window system until you solve your setup issues.

I just installed FC2 on a Compaq (Optiquest monitor) and everything went fine, it seemed, until I was prompted to reboot. After "udev" and "Initializing hardware" it opened up a GUI and I saw an hourglass for just a few seconds. After that, my computer froze with a bizarre color pattern: vertical stripes of random color and width. This happens every time I try to boot. Any idea?

I'm very new to this--my apologies if this is redundant; I couldn't locate anything in the fedora-list archive.

Thanks in advance,
Neeraj
