On many systems the onboard GPU is dsiabled when an addon card is installed. Check the manual for your motherboard.

The BIOS shows internal, PCI, AGP or auto. The radeon used prior had to be used with the vesa for secondary in order to not lockup the server. (7200 woes). The error given for the server lockup, using vesa for the radeon card had the below output. The ati card just is not initialized. The resolution for my internal card is dropped down to some really low resolutions for screen choices. (800x600 or 640x480.)

Anyway, the two cards work with the bios settings. The PCI ATI steals memory from the Intel 815. The radeon card had 32 MB internal memory and the ATI has 16 MB internal memory. Somehow the configuration does not use the internal memory, but overlaps the memory used by the Intel 815 way to achieve its 64 MB system shared memory.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jim
