I had this.  It's a network card module problem.  It didn't seem to
affect the day-to-day running of the system though.  So I didn't tinker
with it at all.  As it happens a friend had a spare NIC and I swapped
the 8139 one.
  Guess that doesn't help much.  Maybe you're having a different problem
that is unrelated to this error, that I found to be harmless.
