I'm having trouble printing to Epson sylus photo 820 on USB The printer is seen as a device by Linux. I can que up a print job with lp: # lp temp request id is stylus-photo-820-1-8 (1 file(s)) lpstat see the job is queued: # lpstat stylus-photo-820-1-7 root 7168 Fri 07 Jan 2005 11:53:43 PM EST lpstat -p shows a HAL error: lpstat -p printer stylus-photo-820-1 disabled since Jan 01 00:00 - Unable to open HAL device "hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_usb_device_4b8_5_100_-1_W02L20112141002550_0" OK obviously my hal ain't working! ;-) Please point me to where I can learn: What's a HAl? Where can I learn about it and this error? Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to resolve this. I have a 256M removable SanDisk Cruzer Mini plugged into a USB port and it is showing up just fine so I'm guessing FC3 is seeing my USB devices but I suspect I'm missing something for my printer configuration. Any ideas or direction would be appreciated. Joe ===== Joseph VLcek Joseph_VLcek@xxxxxxxxx
