Um what chipset did you have in mind? If it's not really a raid controller it probably works fine as a sata cotroller. if it's a real raid controller it probably works fine as well but it won't likely be integrated on a motherboard...
I hope it's better now than it was 6 months ago when I last tried. It was pathetic. From what I've read since, it will be a long time before it becomes good.
