Have you tried mounting /media/usbdisk or /dev/sdc1?
It did assign a device name and mount point so it may work well in spite
of the errors in the log.
I am not using the 64bit processor or kernel but my usb flash drive works well.
/dev/sdc1 on /media/usbdisk type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,sync,noatime,user=rlc)
[rlc@bobcp4 ~]$
I'm puzzled by the sense errors, that's all.
