There are several versions of the Linksys WMP54G card. If you have (the latest) version 4 with the 11g-RT2500 chip set, an open source driver is available at http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm. For that one, you don't need ndiswrapper. I got the same card yesterday and will try to install the open source driver shortly. There appears to be in issue with the version 1.4.5.0 Makefile, so I'll start with the 1.4.4.0 version. Also see the project at http://rt2400.sourceforge.net .
If you have the prior version of the card (with the Broadcom chip set) you need ndiswrapper or linuxant.
