After you have run vmware-config.pl, do: # cp -rp /dev/vm* /etc/udev/devices # chkconfig vmware reset You only need to do these once. I'm assuming that you have the FC3 errata update for the udev package (http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386/udev-039-10.FC3.6.i386.rpm) installed.
