I think userspace cdburning is broken in 2.6.8 (and .1) kernel.
Is there a reason you are using 2.6.8.1?
I can burn both cd/dvd in fc3 using any of the 2.6.9 kernels.
I use 2.6.8.1 for win4lin support. I usually build my own kernels.
