I'm not familiar with the Acer but the Compaq Armadas that required the projector to be connected first would then respond to the CRT switch. Then I could switch between none, VGA, LCD, and both. Seems like there were also some BIOS settings where you could define how it came up. But, again, I don't know anything about the Acer so it's just guesswork on my part at this point.
