Can't compile Ralink RT2500 Wifi driver.(FC2)

Hello.

I'm trying to compile a Wifi driver for my Cardbus
Corega CG-WLCB54GL (Japanese manufacturer) which uses
Ralink RT2500 chip, but I can't make it.

I downloaded the source
http://www.ralinktech.com/drivers/Linux/RT2500-Linux-STA-1.4.4.0.tar.gz
from Ralink website
http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm
I have installed kernel-source package, too.

When I make, the following message appears.
Makefile:434: .config: No such file or directry.

And after that, nothing is compiled and a lot of error
messages come out.

I followed the instruction in the documents.
I did the following command in the driver source directory.
$ make -C /usr/src/linux SUBDIRS=$PWD modules

I use Fedora Core 2 on an NEC laptop (LaVie NX LW43H/1).
kernel-2.6.9-1.6_FC2
kernel-source-2.6.5-1.358

Is something missing in the documents?
What should I check?
Thanks.
