It obviously works with some (perhaps newer) hardware, but not with others. A workaround is to use "acpi=off" on the kernel grub line, but this is in no way a fix. With acpi disabled, another method of turning off the computer is activated (presumably apm, which is enabled with disabling acpi) which still works. I'm running a custom compiled 2.6.8.1 kernel from kernel.org, so I haven't switched over to the new kernel yet, but booting once and shutting down worked on my Compaq Presario R3000Z AMD64 laptop. FC3 with the 2.6.9 kernel does not power off on my Athlon XP cpu VIA KT400 motherboard desktop, so it's kind of hit or miss. Jonathan
