Older ThinkPads seem to be problematic, at least mine is - filed BZ
131293 above; however, am running FC2 at least.

What kernel are you running?  May want to check out comment #3 in:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=128711

Using "acpi=off" on the grub kernel line, and having it actually work,
is the key.  This gives me some hope of doing an FC3 install/upgrade,
but haven't wanted to mess with it as my main machine is off for a MB
replacement (by the kind people at Monarch Computers, even though it was
at month 35 of a 36 month warranty - but I digress :-) and I'm leary of
trying it when the ThinkPad is currently my only viable machine at work.
