I cannot seem to get the nvidia drivers to work:
Compaq Presario R3000
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Vidio: GeForce4 440 Go 64M
Installed FC3-x86_64 and yum'd. grabbed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-pkg2.run. copyed the /dev/nvidia* to /etc/udev/devices. Used several xorg.conf files that seemed to match my system. I uninstalled the Mesa GL packages
rpm -e --nodeps --allmatches xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL
The startx apears to work from the ps -aef listing but all I get is a BLANK display - it flickers a few times during the startup and then nothing. Doing a init 5 produces the exact same restult.
I mostly followed from http://www.gagme.com/greg/linux/compaqr3000z-fc3.php and even used the xorg.conf listed.
I have obviously missed something - suggestions and or pointers please!!!!!
