Just a note on this, we have some odd results with VMWare. We could not
get it to work well even using the release notes, so we thought we would
download the latest version from VMware - turned out to be the same
build number but a different date to our original file. The new file
installed and worked first time without any extra work suggested in the
release notes. I haven't been able to spare enough time to prove this as
yet.

There is a note in the FC3 release notes that specifically addresses
VMware. I followed the recommended steps and had no trouble getting
VMware up and running smoothly.
I did not say this in my first mail but I followed the release notes and
I also have vmware running. But only with the binary kernel rpm (ie
kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3).
The problem starts when I try the same with a kernel I build from source
(ie kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3.src.rpm)
