If not then what you have would be perfectly correct, you would have just the command line interface. To see if you have X you could type "startx" after logging in and see if X starts. I always install everything (about 6.5G disc space needed) then I know I have everything (select custom install then when given the list of things to install scroll down to the bottom and select "everything").
