After changing my 10-local.rules from:
KERNEL="ttyUSB1",MODE="666",SYMLINK="pilot"

to the following:

KERNEL="ttyUSB0",MODE="666",SYMLINK="pilot"


All works fine for pilot-xfer and evolution!
