Thanks Alexander, as usual you manage to find exacty the right
answer. Don't know why I missed that bug report myself. That bug
describes my issue exactly. I have added a comment, not much more than a
"me too" since my (anaconda generated) mdadm.conf is identical to the
one already posted in that bug. 

The system is working still without further problems....
