kernel upgrade problem?? (fc2)

I just attempted a kernel upgrade of one of my servers from 2.6.8.? to the latest 2.6.9 available in the normal update channels. There were a bunch of other updates as well, mostly xorg things. The update went well but upon reboot, I noticed way more disk activity than normal. Upon displaying the messages file, I found a boatload of entries like this (sorry about poor wrapping):

Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:0:0:phase change 6-7 11@2e37a784 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:1:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.

Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:2:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:0:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:1:0:phase change 6-7 11@2e336b84 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:2:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:0:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:1:0:phase change 6-7 11@2e336b84 resid=6.
Nov 18 08:15:39 server1 kernel: sym0:0:0:phase change 6-7 11@2c972784 resid=6.

There were thousands more like this and they kept coming. My log file was growing by perhaps half a meg/minute. I got in and changed grub.conf to boot to the 2.6.8 kernel just to keep my log from going wild. That's where I'm at now.

This is for the smp kernel on FC2. I didn't try the normal kernel.

Has anyone else seen this?
