Why is it then an issue with not finding the partition label?

Probably a bug with the new kernel Dave Jones <davej@xxxxxxxxxx> is
already searching a cause and solution for. See i.e. the thread
"kernel-2.6.9-1.678_FC3 Panic atkbd.c" here on the list and the bigger
one "New FC3 Kernel causes panic" on the testers list.
