Is that eth1 built into the motherboard, or is it a separate PCI card?

If it's a separate PCI card, can you try moving it to a different PCI
slot?

(If it's built-in: do you actually need to be using eth1, or could you
try using eth0, and stop the rtl8169 module from being loaded?)

I'm guessing that there's some sort of IRQ instability between the IDE
adapter and the NIC.
