I get the same thing with the DVD+RW I use.

Instead, I just use a command line setup, like so:

cdrecord.prodvd dev=ATA:1,1,0 gracetime=2 fs=4096k -v -useinfo speed=4 -ej
ect -data /path/to/data.iso

In my case, my DVD writer is secondary slave in my IDE setup, so the 
device is dev=ATA:1,1,0.
