/etc/X11/xorg.conf:
In the Monitor section modify the VertRefresh range to what you want.
Then, log out of the desktop, and at the gdm screen press ctrl-alt-
backspace to restart with the new settings.  If your settings are out of
range, this may cause damage to older monitors.  Be prepared to switch
to a console (ctrl-alt-F1) and log in as root to undo any changes if the
display is not useable.
