I have the same problem with my dell 8600. I understand the part of editing the etc/X11/xorg.conf You mention 2 entries in the "screen" section. So under the subsection with the "depth" 24 I understand what do you mean by add in the modes line before the first entry "1920x1200" Thanks Mathew -----Original Message----- From: fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of xray Sent: Friday, November 12, 2004 4:03 PM To: davidkmcw@xxxxxxxxx; For users of Fedora Core releases Subject: Re: Setting display resolution I had the same problem with an Acer Travelmate 4000 ( try this: edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the "screen" section are 2 entries. I suppose you use 24 bit, so you move to the subsection with the depth "24" and add in the modes line before the first entry "1920x1200". After that you have to restart the xserver ( --> init 3 --> init 5 ) It helped me with an 1280x800 resolution Best regards Jens Frieben davidmcw wrote: >Hi all, > >I installed FC3 on my Dell Precision M60 laptop yesterday. During the setup it asks me for monitor type, so I selected a generic 1920x1200 LCD monitor. When it asks me about screen resolution I can only select 1920x1440 or 1600x1200, why not 1920x1200. I haven't tried downloading the drivers from Nvidia yet. Does this make any sense to anyone? > >Slainte, in advance, > >David > > > > -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
