Remove it from your boot line and replace with ide-cd=/dev/hdx (where x is the drive letter of the DVDRW) As to a new kernel, keep the one which comes with FC3. We of the rawhide list have spent bloomin ages ensuring it works. If, after removing the ide-scsi line from your boot line, you still have problems - please file a bug in bugzilla.
