It works just fine. You will probably run into the old DOS vs. UNIX newline difference. WordPad can handle UNIX-style text files on the Windows side, and there's always dos2unix on the Linux side.

Now all that's needed is for someone to integrate changing 'default'
line of grub.conf into the Windows and gdm shutdown procedures.
