Then make sure that you have entries similar to mine in your /etc/modprobe.conf file:

# AC-97 sound card (on motherboard)
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
...

Is /etc/modprobe.conf just a new name for /etc/modules.conf?
Should I be able to copy the Fedora Core 1 modules.conf sound
stuff directly into the Fedora Core 2 modprobe.conf file?

Is there a map showing where Fedora Core 1 configuration
data was moved to in Fedora Core 2? Or better yet, a cross
distributer list showing where the various info goes in all
linux distributions?
