Problem number 1. Do not use the 'hdX=ide-scsi' in 
grub.conf/lilo.conf. FC works without this. 

If you use the 2.6.8-XXX FC kernels, you can only burn as root.
2.6.7 and below allow burning as non-root. This is _not_ a bug.
This is a security feature. Linus himself has spoken.
