Yes, it does work out of the box. > But it doesn't work - I can get console on DVI, but when I start X, I just > get a blank screen - or sometimes it goes berserk and starts flashing > weird gray static. So you will have to check the log files. The one filled by the X server is /var/log/Xorg.0.log. The gdm log is /var/log/gdm/:0.log. > My graphics card is a GeForceFX 5200, and I have installed the Nvidia > driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run). At grub boot screen press "a" and append a "3" to the kernel parameter line (without quotes). This will boot up in console mode only. Then login and run "startx". Certainly that will fail, concluded from your description. You then can investigate the X log file after you are back on the console. First of course, before trying to run startx you should /etc/X11/xorg.conf file for proper frequency settings for your monitor. The readme of the NVidia.com driver knows about some addtitional options you could set in the xorg.conf. > -John Alexander -- Alexander Dalloz | Enger, Germany | GPG key 1024D/ED695653 1999-07-13 Fedora GNU/Linux Core 2 (Tettnang) kernel 2.6.8-1.521smp Serendipity 20:00:12 up 10 days, 22:26, load average: 0.15, 0.40, 0.26
