Firstly, "supported" in this case means "supported by HP technical support". Secondly, it *might*, in theory, be possible to install x86 Fedora using the Itanium's 32 bit compatibility mode. Never having used Itaniums, I wouldn't know. I suspect that since Itaniums are surrounded by unusual hardware, you will run into difficulties. You would certainly not be able to run IA64 native binaries, and find that you had turned your expensive computer into a slow PC. Thirdly, IA64 CDs are not listed on the main Fedora download page. This means that, at best, you would be looking at a somewhat non-standard system. To be honest, unless you're interested in helping out porting Fedora to IA64, I'd recommend that you grab a build of White Box Linux or one of the other RHEL repackagers. The nearest you'l get to Fedora on IA64 is the "Rawhide" development builds. This is currently somewhere between FC3T2 and FC3T3 (since FC3T3 will be taken from it) and does have IA64 builds, but may trash your filesystem every so often. Sorry I can't be of any more help, but it doesn't look like there's much demand for Linux on IA64 now, and it doesn't look as though there'll be much in the future, either.
