Is there a setting somewhere that is used as the over-riding timeout for a network connection from a Linux box to any other IP address? I have a problem where connecting to some machines on our network takes a very long time to timeout. This happpens when the address being opened is invalid, or the machine being connected to has a firewall. I want to change the timeout to see if it will make a difference to our applications.
