The guy just wants to have a useful app. He doesn't want to know about software design and engineering. He doesn't need to know and he probably doesn't care whether 5 or six apps are unified behind a GUI or one big app is doing it all. Explanations such as yours may apply to software engineers and designers but not to common day users.
