Good morning all. I'm hoping that some one can provide some assistance. I just recently upgraded a file server from Red Hat Linux 9 to Fedora Core 2. I am running on exactly the same hardware as before. The hardware set up is. 00:09.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] (rev 78) 00:0b.0 RAID bus controller: Triones Technologies, Inc. HPT374 (rev 07) I have 5 discs installed, 4 in software RAID 5 configuration with LVM running on top, 5th for system files. The kernel version running is. Linux neon 2.6.8-1.521 #1 Mon Aug 16 09:01:18 EDT 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux Samba version: samba-3.0.6-2.fc2 I am performing authentication via LDAP, this appears to be working okay when the samba server as "security = share" however when changing it to "security = user" no one is able to authenticate. I am planning to do some work on the LDAP server hopefully to resolve that particular problem, but I don't believe it is related to my current issue. I am sharing out numerous folders residing on LVM partitions via samba. An example from the smb.conf file is below. [CorporateSales] comment = Corporate Sales path = /export/CorporateSales writeable = yes force group = corporate.sales create mask = 0660 directory mask = 0770 Windows users are able to access the shares with out any problems, I am able to access the shares apparently without problem via nautilus smb://server/share However, when I mount a file system from a client using the following command. mount -t smb -o username=douglas.furlong, password=<password> //192.168.0.51/Systems /mnt/systems/ Then using Nautilus to navigate to the location, every thing appears to run fine with out any errors. If I then mount an additional location I start to run in to problems with the following errors appearing... smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1882] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1883] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1884] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1885] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1886] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1887] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1888] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1889] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1890] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1891] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1892] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699ca0, mid=1893] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1894] timed out! smb_add_request: request [1a699ca0, mid=1895] timed out! smb_get_length: Invalid NBT packet, code=2b smb_add_request: request [1a699dc0, mid=1896] timed out! smb_file_read: //krap4.asf validation failed, error=4294967291 smb_add_request: request [1a699ca0, mid=1897] timed out! This can be replicated mounting numerous different shares in several orders, and un-mounting previous shares first. If I try and use cifs I get mount.cifs //neon/Operations /mnt/Operations/ -o username=douglas.furlong, password=<password> mount error 5 = Input/output error Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs) I have not been able to trouble shoot this yet. Does any one have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks for any help. -- Douglas Furlong Systems Administrator Firebox.com T: 0870 420 4475 F: 0870 220 2178
